Whales and/or dolphins in the wild

I was originally going to take my 2 girls to \"swim with the dolphins\" but after doing some research and looking at some of the postings I have decided to do a tour of the \"wild dolphins\". I was interested to see the post from someone who said a whale was spotted Nov 20th. I had an email from a tour operator who said that when you go out of season (prior to Dec 15th) you cannot follow the whales but can see them if they are there. I would love to see the whales in seaons (Dec 15) but we are scheduled to be there Dec 7-14 so I am wondering the likelihood of seeing whales on a \"dolphin\" tour. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
