On Sunday, March 22, 2026, the streets of Puerto Vallarta will fill with athletes for the 14th Annual SEAPAL Vallarta Half Marathon and 5K Sports Race. Starting at 7:00 AM, the race serves as the official grand finale for the city’s World Water Day commemorations. Both runners and local families will gather at the “Agustín Flores Contreras” Municipal Sports Complex (the Stadium) to promote the vital message of water conservation through physical fitness and community action.
The course is known for being fast and flat, utilizing the central lanes of the Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard. The 21K Half Marathon features multiple competitive categories, including Free (18–39), Master (40–49), and Veterans (50+), along with a special “Vallarta Athlete” category for local residents. The 5K Sports Race offers a more accessible alternative for those looking to participate in the festivities without the long-distance commitment. Each participant will receive a runner’s kit including a commemorative T-shirt, official race number, and a finisher’s medal.
Registration for the event is currently in its final tier, priced at $450 MXN for those signing up in March. To ensure a smooth experience, kit distribution will take place on Friday, March 20, at the main SEAPAL offices, and Saturday, March 21, at La Isla Shopping Village. As one of the region’s most established athletic traditions, this year’s “Run for Water” expects a high turnout of both elite competitors and recreational joggers, all crossing the finish line in the heart of the hotel zone.
