Canadian Travelers’ Interest in Vallarta on the Rise

Canadian travelers are showing increasing interest in Puerto Vallarta, with a 5.8% rise in searches for trips to the Mexican destination in 2024 compared to 2023. This data comes from Amadeus, a travel technology company that provides insights into traveler intentions based on search activity.

The cities with the highest growth in searches for Puerto Vallarta trips are Comox (35%), Kelowna (19%), Prince George (16%), Edmonton and Calgary (11%), Toronto (10%), Winnipeg (6.4%), Victoria (2%), and London (1%).

Puerto Vallarta ranked among the top 3 most searched-for destinations in Mexico during June, with nearly half a million searches, up 16% from the same period last year. Round-trip air travel sales to Puerto Vallarta from Canada are also growing compared to 2023, with a 15% increase in the total number of air passengers and a 78% increase in bookings through travel agents so far this year.

Currently, Puerto Vallarta International Airport is the leader in Latin America with the highest number of Canadian cities connected through 16 direct flights from different points in Canada. Air capacity to travel to Puerto Vallarta saw significant growth in Toronto, where the total number of seats available increased by 150% for this month of June.
