Puerto Vallarta Restores Iconic Malecon Letters

Puerto Vallarta is giving its famous Malecon letters a makeover! The city is restoring the large letters (“maxiletras”) and incorporating artistic motifs inspired by renowned local painter Manuel Lepe.

Leading the project are Lepe’s daughter, Marcela, also a painter, and his nephew Luis. This collaboration ensures the artwork truly reflects Lepe’s style, unlike the original installation by a previous administration.

The letters have been repaired and polished, ready for their artistic transformation. They’ll also be painted on the back for seaside appreciation and include an informative plaque about the artist. This revitalized landmark promises to be a captivating spot for locals and tourists alike.
