Puerto Vallarta’s International Airport is seeing strong growth, thanks to a thriving domestic travel market. A new report shows that national tourism is more than making up for a small drop in international arrivals.
In August 2025, the airport saw a 5.5% increase in overall passengers compared to the previous year. This was the highest growth rate among all airports managed by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP). The real driver of this success was domestic travel, which jumped 12.8% in August, bringing in over 314,000 passengers.
While international arrivals were down slightly, the robust growth from Mexican travelers kept the airport’s numbers positive. In the first eight months of 2025, the airport welcomed over 4.8 million passengers in total, a 1.6% increase from the previous year.
