Downhill Urbano Returns to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is preparing to transform its iconic cobblestone alleys and steep stairways into a high-octane racetrack for the 2026 Urban Downhill competition on May 1 and 2. This extreme mountain biking event will feature 40 elite riders from over 10 countries, including global stars like Rémy Métailler, Kilian Bron, Jhony Salido, and Bienvenido Aguado. Organizers expect a massive turnout of approximately 20,000 spectators to line the course, which drops from the city’s highest hills and finishes at the world-famous Malecón.

The competition is uniquely structured into two distinct disciplines, each with its own independent prize purse:

  • Downhill Speed Race: A technical timed descent through narrow corridors and urban obstacles.
  • Best Trick (Freestyle): A spectacular exhibition of gravity-defying stunts on custom-built ramps.

The action kicks off on Friday, May 1, with practice rounds and track recognition, followed by the main competition and the “Best Trick” showcase on Saturday, May 2. For those unable to attend in person, the event will receive massive international coverage through major networks and platforms including ESPN, Fox, Disney+, and National Geographic. By bringing world-class adventure sports to the heart of the city, Puerto Vallarta continues to diversify its tourism appeal and solidify its status as a premier global destination for high-impact athletic events.
