Flight Searches to Puerto Vallarta Soar Over 25%

Flight searches for Puerto Vallarta have seen a remarkable increase during the first half of 2025. From January to May 2025, the domestic market recorded approximately 9.4 million flight searches for Puerto Vallarta, marking a substantial 26.34% jump compared to the just over 6.9 million searches in the same period last year. This surge not only highlights continued interest in the destination but also its growing capacity to attract a larger number of visitors from within Mexico.

Statistics indicate that a significant portion of these searches are for summer travel. Last year, 1.89 million searches were recorded for trips between June and August; this year, that figure has risen to 2.39 million, representing over 20% growth in travel intent for these months. Domestically, cities showing the highest percentage growth in flight searches to Puerto Vallarta include Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Querétaro, and Cancún. Internationally, the most significant increases have been observed from Canadian cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary, as well as from California and the northeastern United States.

Globally, excluding searches from within Mexico, Puerto Vallarta garnered over 39 million flight searches, a 25% increase from 29.3 million searches during the same period last year. This figure underscores the effectiveness of local tourism promotion strategies in capturing attention, despite a 4.9% reduction in international passenger arrivals. Travel intent for the summer from international markets also saw substantial growth, accumulating 9.87 million searches compared to 7.55 million last year, a 23.42% increase. This growth carries positive implications for the local economy, representing a potential influx of tourists beneficial to various sectors.
