Ixtapa Invites Community to Free Grand Dance

The traditional patron saint festivities of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Ixtapa, north of Puerto Vallarta, will culminate this Friday, June 27th. This grand celebration is a collaborative effort between the Sacred Heart Parish, the Ejido Ixtapa, and the Municipal Delegation. The day’s events include a horseback procession at 5:00 PM through the main streets, followed by a cultural festival and popular dance in the main plaza in the evening.

The evening’s program will kick off with a performance by the pre-Hispanic dance organization Kalpulli Ostocoatl Chalchitlicue. Following this, attendees can enjoy music from Alex Ramírez and Grupo Profetas, singer Serapio Ramírez, the Norteño group Karma, and the techno bands Brava and Póker de Ases.

Father Gabriel Aguiar Melin, the local parish priest, has organized the religious ceremonies. “Mañanitas” are planned for the early minutes of June 27th. Later in the morning, at 11:30 AM, a pilgrimage of the Favored of the Sacred Heart will take place, joined by Ejido Ixtapa and the Charros Association, concluding at the temple at 12:00 PM for a solemn Eucharist. This will be followed by a traditional meal and community gathering. In the evening, the holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, followed by Holy Mass at 8:00 PM, and an artistic festival with mariachi music in the church atrium starting at 9:00 PM.
