Jalisco is poised for a significant surge in its tourism sector, with plans to invest over $1 billion in 38 new hotel projects. This ambitious undertaking is projected to add more than 4,578 new rooms to the state by 2028, forming a core component of Jalisco’s strategic push to become Mexico’s leading travel destination. Currently, Jalisco offers 83,067 rooms across 2,821 hotels, setting a robust foundation for this expansion.
Global hotel brands are key players in this massive expansion. Hyatt is leading the charge with a substantial $295 million investment across three new hotels in Puerto Vallarta. InterContinental Hotels Group will contribute seven new properties with a combined investment of $165 million, while Hilton and Marriott are collectively adding eight more hotels, investing $90 million and $65 million, respectively.
The growth also extends to luxury and boutique developments. Chablé El Tezcalame Tomatlán represents a significant $230 million investment. Brands like ME by Meliá, NH Guadalajara Suites, and Four Points by Sheraton will collectively contribute nearly $86 million. Additionally, eight independent hotels are set to bring in another $100 million in investment.
This wave of development goes beyond simply adding rooms; it reflects a strategic shift towards offering more immersive and sustainable travel experiences. The new hotels aim to seamlessly blend luxury with local culture, promising increased employment opportunities, growth for small businesses, and stronger regional connections.
