Kermés Sayulita 2026: Food, Culture & Wixárika Magic

Sayulita’s surf-swept shores are set to burst into color right after Easter with the Kermés Sayulita 2026. Running from April 30 to May 5, this vibrant local food fair and cultural festival is a non-profit initiative designed to revitalize the town during the shoulder season. From 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, the event spills from the Sayulita Plaza through the cobblestone streets and down to the beach, offering a raw and authentic look at Riviera Nayarit life.

The festival begins on Thursday, April 30, with a heavy focus on the next generation. A dedicated Children’s Gastronomic Pavilion opens at 2:00 PM, followed by a deeply spiritual Wixárika blessing of children at 4:00 PM in Sayuparke. As the sun dips below the horizon, an official opening ceremony featuring traditional drums and chants will take place at Playa Norte at 5:30 PM.

Friday, May 1, shifts the energy into high gear with the Mercado del Pueblo opening at 10:00 AM, showcasing local organic goods and artisan crafts. Cultural immersion continues with Wixárika storytelling about the “origin of life” and the sacred nature of corn, followed by a high-stakes Salsa Competition at Alto Alto from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. For those seeking a deeper spiritual connection, the night concludes with a Full Moon Temazcal ceremony, with pickups starting at the plaza at 7:00 PM.
