New Ferry Expands Travel Across Banderas Bay

Following a successful soft launch earlier this month, the “Vallarta Ferry” was officially inaugurated this past Thursday, marking a vibrant new chapter in regional maritime travel. The modern vessel, named Playa del Carmen, offers a fresh and comfortable way for both locals and tourists to navigate the sparkling waters of Banderas Bay. This project, supported by state tourism authorities, aims to enhance mobility while promoting a deeper appreciation for the region’s stunning natural landscapes.

Designed to provide a premium experience, the ferry can accommodate up to 400 passengers and features full air conditioning, modern restrooms, and high-performance engines. Safety and professional service are top priorities, with a certified crew ensuring a smooth and enjoyable crossing for everyone on board. Organizers estimate that this new service will cater to as many as 600,000 travelers annually, significantly boosting eco-responsible tourism throughout the coastal communities of Jalisco and Nayarit.

The scenic maritime route links some of the most iconic spots in the bay, starting from Marina Los Peines and making stops at Puerto Mágico and the Los Muertos Pier before heading to the paradise of Yelapa. Along the way, passengers are treated to breathtaking views of Marina Vallarta, Mismaloya, and Costa Careyes. This new connectivity allows visitors to easily discover hidden beaches and charming coastal villages that were once more difficult to access, all while enjoying a relaxing 90-minute journey.
