The Puerto Vallarta City Council has approved the recipients of the 2026 Premio Vallarta, the city’s highest civic honors recognizing individuals and organizations that have shaped the municipality’s culture, education, environment, and public life. The formal presentation will take place on May 31 at the Teatro al Aire Libre Aquiles Serdan, coinciding with the city’s 108th anniversary as a municipality and its 58th year as an incorporated city.
This year’s honorees include Isela Mariscal Hernandez, who will receive the Teresa Barba Palomera award for cultural promotion; Ana Maria Martinez Delgado, recognized with the Francisca Rodriguez Rodriguez award for public education; and the Nakawe Sustainable Development, Culture and Wildlife Conservation Civil Association, honored with the Guadalupe Sanchez Torres environmental award. Maria Matilde Covarrubias Sanchez will receive the Manuel Lepe Macedo arts prize, and Maria del Carmen Anaya Corona will be distinguished with the Ignacio Luis Vallarta Ogazon award, the municipality’s highest recognition.
The awards highlight the community spirit that underpins downtown Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding region. Visitors interested in local heritage can explore the city’s cultural landmarks and learn about the figures celebrated during the annual anniversary festivities.
