The Puerto Vallarta International Airport has officially made history, closing out 2025 with an all-time record of nearly 7 million passengers. According to the latest data from Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), the airport welcomed a total of 6,947,700 travelers throughout the year, marking a 2.1% increase over the previous year and solidifying its status as a premier global gateway.
The year ended on a particularly high note in December, which saw a 4% jump in traffic compared to the same month in 2024. During this peak holiday period, the airport handled over 712,000 passengers. This growth was bolstered by a significant 10.6% increase in the number of available seats, reflecting the high demand from airlines to connect travelers with this sun-drenched Pacific destination.
A major highlight of 2025 was the incredible surge in the domestic market. Domestic travel grew by an impressive 9.9% over the year, surpassing the 3-million-passenger milestone for the first time. This trend was especially visible in December, as more Mexican travelers than ever chose Puerto Vallarta for their year-end celebrations, resulting in a 7.9% increase in national arrivals for the month.
