With an eye on the upcoming 2026 World Cup, Puerto Vallarta is currently hosting the 14th annual Civil Aviation Security Symposium. The event, organized by the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), brings together top aviation and security experts to discuss the challenges and best practices for managing large-scale events.
This year’s symposium is focused on “Large Events” and has gathered representatives from Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), various airports, international security firms, and, for the first time, members of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The presence of FIFA officials underscores the importance of the event as Mexico prepares to co-host the World Cup.
Through a series of discussions, presentations, and workshops, participants are analyzing the specific security challenges posed by major international events. The goal is to align processes and share experiences to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the millions of passengers expected to travel to Mexico for the tournament.
