The long-awaited modernization of Puerto Vallarta’s public transportation system is finally within reach. New details confirm that the city is set to receive a fleet of new buses, including 21 electric units and 75 gas-powered vehicles, which will significantly upgrade local service and reduce environmental impact.
Luis Alberto Romero Chávez, President of the Unibus PV Administrative Council, announced that the first wave of new units has arrived at the port of Manzanillo. These buses are currently being equipped with the necessary fare collection systems and are expected to begin circulating on the city’s streets in October.
This progress builds on the ongoing rollout of modernized buses. Twenty-six new units are already operating on the Pitillal-Ixtapa route, and 25 are servicing the Bobadilla-Ixtapa route. While users have been waiting for these upgrades for years, the arrival of the new fleet signals that a more reliable and eco-friendly public transportation system is very close to becoming a reality.
