Puerto Vallarta poised to become Mexico’s film capital

Puerto Vallarta is set to become a major hub for the film industry in Mexico following the successful presentation of the “Filma Jalisco” project at the 2025 International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR). Mayor Luis Munguía has expressed his full support for making Puerto Vallarta a prime location for large-scale film productions.

Munguía thanked Governor Pablo Lemus for prioritizing Puerto Vallarta in such ambitious projects, stating, “For the first time, we have a governor who is demonstrating his love for Puerto Vallarta with concrete actions.”

Alejandra Cornejo, Director of Tourism for Puerto Vallarta, provided further details about the “Filma Jalisco” initiative. This project aims to attract national and international film productions to Jalisco by offering financial incentives, organizing events, and fostering partnerships within the industry. The ultimate goal is to position Jalisco as the leading film destination in Mexico and Latin America.

“Filma Jalisco” is built on four key pillars: the creation of a film fund to provide financial incentives for productions, the organization of film events, the facilitation of partnerships to attract investment, and the development of a film academy to nurture local talent.
