Puerto Vallarta’s participation in the 2025 International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) in Madrid proved to be a resounding success, according to the municipal delegation. Led by Mayor Luis Munguía González, the team achieved its goals of promoting the destination and securing new partnerships.
From January 22-25, the delegation engaged in a series of meetings with tour operators and airlines to discuss expanding flight routes and international connections. The focus was on fostering international alliances and promoting sustainable tourism.
One of the highlights of the trip was the exploration of potential twinning agreements with cities in Europe and America. A special commission led by council members Marcia Bañuelos and Laurel Carrillo was tasked with establishing partnerships that would benefit Puerto Vallarta and enhance its international reputation. Cities such as Seville, Marbella, Salamanca, and San Sebastián in Spain, as well as Santa María in Colombia, were identified as potential twinning partners.
