Banderas Bay has solidified its position as a world-class tourist destination following its successful participation in the 2025 International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain. Over the course of three days, the municipality actively engaged in strategic partnerships, cultural exchanges, and promotional activities that yielded significant results.
On the international front, they established agreements with Spanish businesses to leverage technology for tourism promotion and expand the municipality’s reach into new markets. At the Magical Towns Pavilion, Bahía de Banderas showcased its natural, cultural, and tourist attractions to international media. The event also provided an opportunity for executive meetings with Spanish mayors, leading to preliminary agreements for twinning with five municipalities such as Salar, Medellín, and Cambados. Additionally, they explored potential partnerships with the Canary Islands, Mallorca, and other European destinations.
Another major achievement was the inclusion of Bahía de Banderas in the Global Surf Cities Network, connecting it with 14 countries specializing in high-end tourism and highlighting the region’s appeal as a luxury and sports destination. Furthermore, the municipality secured agreements with 10 international tour operators, including Viajes El Corte Inglés, to attract visitors from global markets and solidify its position as a leading tourist destination.
