Nature enthusiasts of all ages are invited to the Vallarta Botanical Garden on Saturday, May 17th, to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. This special event will be a celebration of birds, art, and community, aligning with this year’s global theme: “Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities.” The focus will be on the significance of coexisting harmoniously with the migratory birds that visit the region each season.
The family-oriented event will offer a morning filled with both educational and artistic activities, all set within the stunning backdrop of the tropical forest. The day will begin at 9:00 am with a guided birdwatching walk, providing participants with the opportunity to observe local and migratory species in their natural habitat. Following the walk, at 11:00 am, there will be an engaging presentation, including a chance to examine feathers up close using a microscope. In the afternoon, at 1:00 pm, a creative art workshop will invite attendees to craft unique “botanical birds” using real flowers and plant materials.
World Migratory Bird Day is an annual global event organized through the collaborative efforts of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and Environment for the Americas (EFTA). This important day aims to encourage people worldwide to take action to protect the natural habitats that migratory birds depend on for resting, breeding, and their overall survival.
