Just curious since I stayed there once.

We were thinking of staying there in Dec 08. What was your experience with the hotel?
No
Not sold, just upgrading/renovated to an adult only boutique place is my understanding.

Still owned by the PLA group, far as I know. They were working on the upgrades while I was in PV last week. It was sorely needed - this is the oldest of the 3 PLA properties; it used to be the Fontana del Mar years ago, and I doubt PLA did more than cursory upgrading when they bought it.

The most recent comments are 10 months old, prior to the changeover...anything more recent?
We are staying at the Playa Los Arcos starting Dec 8. I read the link. What about the Los Acros Suites hotel? Is it no longer part of the chain? If we like the Playa Los Arcos, we would be interested in the new \"Adults Only\" sister hotel.

I just read on their website, they updated all the rooms at all 3 of their properties with new mattresses. One of the most complained out issues in many reviews. Looks like they are trying.
PLA
The suites are still part of the hotel group. Unless something has changed the Doña Susana is also still part of the group too...if that was different the website would have removed one or both by now.

I suspect the upgrade to adult only and name change is an attempt to re-brand that particular branch of the chain, from a low end budget offering to something more \"boutique\", in keeping with the overall feel of the area.

I did see workers a few times last week moving bedframes and mattresses out of the suites and the DS, down the hill to a truck to be carted away, and replacements being delivered up. I would imagine this process will be completed before the high season is in full swing.
Los Arcos
We were booked into the Playa Los Arcos through Air Transat Holidays in Toronto. One week later we were informed that there was a hold on Los Arcos and they were not selling trips there for this winter. We changed to Canto Del Sol Plaza, it is a little farther away but still close enough to the Malecon..
While having breakfast on Olas Altas, we witnessed the seemingly endless parade of pillowtop mattresses being delivered to the Los Arcos properties.

And seeing the condition of the ones being replaced, this was a way overdue upgrade.
Playa Los Arcos
Hi; We were booked for Feb 15-29 . It is still listed on the web site for Air Transat, but they are not selling it.
Playa Los Arcos
Hi: We were really disappointed that we could not go there. We were at the Decameron last year for a month and did a day trip down to that area and decided that we wanted to go there this year.. Oh well maybe next year. I would be interested in hearing how it was when you get back.
Have fun
PLA W/Air Transat
On selloffvacations, itravel2000, etc. they were selling the packages (for Air Transat Holidays and Nolitours) as the Playa Los Arcos. When I phoned to confirm whether or not that was indeed the PLA - beachfront - I was told that no - the rooms they were selling were for the \"Los Arcos Hotel one block up from the beach\" - (which would now be the Casa Dona Susana). I was also told that the Playa Los Arcos beachfront was sold out for the dates I wanted. Good thing I bothered to double check with the tour company. Because we absolutely must be beachfront, we did not book at the PLA (and yes I was hugely disappointed as I wanted to be beachfront on Playa Los Muertos).

The travel companies should have to market/sell the packages correctly, IMO, so it would avoid further confusion with travellers booking those packages to the Los Arcos properties.
