The Puerto Vallarta International Airport has reported a significant surge in passenger traffic during the first half of 2024. With a total of 1,828,000 passengers arriving on 16,311 flights, the airport experienced a remarkable 34.1% increase compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic.
This growth can be attributed to increased tourism and the addition of new flight routes. Recently, it was announced that the airport will be adding four new destinations: New York (starting January 8, 2025), Sacramento (January 11, 2025), Kansas City, and Saint Louis, Missouri (both starting January 18, 2025). These new routes will provide an additional 1,200 seats per week to Puerto Vallarta.
Statewide, Jalisco has also seen a significant increase in air travel. Both Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports have experienced substantial growth. Guadalajara Airport welcomed 4,178,000 passengers on 31,508 flights during the first half of the year, representing an 18.6% increase compared to 2019.
