A Fortnight of Festivities in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is currently immersed in a two-week celebration of Easter, a period that blends deep-rooted traditions with vibrant cultural expressions. The city is alive with activity as both locals and tourists partake in the observances of Semana Santa (Holy Week) and Pascua (Easter Week), two of Mexico’s most cherished holiday seasons.
In Mexico, Easter is a prolonged celebration spanning two weeks, beginning with the solemn observances of Semana Santa, which commemorates the final days of Jesus Christ, and transitioning into the joyous celebration of Pascua, marking His resurrection.
Semana Santa commences with the blessing of palm fronds on Palm Sunday (April 13th) and continues with all-night vigils on Maundy Thursday (April 17th), each day offering unique and meaningful experiences.
The celebration extends into Pascua (April 21-27), transforming Puerto Vallarta into a lively and festive destination. The city’s beaches, streets, and the Malecón become hubs of music, food, and laughter, as locals and tourists unite to celebrate.
