PV to Host Moving Passion Play on Good Friday

A deeply significant tradition in Puerto Vallarta’s Holy Week observances will continue this Good Friday, April 18, 2025, as the Guerreros de Dios Catholic group presents their annual live reenactment of the Passion of Jesus. This powerful performance brings to life the pivotal final period of Jesus’ life before his crucifixion, as recounted in the Gospels.

A central element of the reenactment is the Via Crucis, where the individual portraying Jesus carries a weighty wooden cross through the city streets, followed by a procession of participants in costume. This live procession through Puerto Vallarta offers a compelling visual and emotional experience, providing a moment for reflection and connection for both those of Christian faith and others.

The community production will commence at 10:00 am in Parque Lázaro Cárdenas with the First Station of the Cross and will proceed along El Malecón, culminating at Parque Hidalgo with the impactful crucifixion scene. This solemn and unforgettable event draws hundreds of spectators each year.
