Puerto Vallarta Boosts Safety and Gender Equality Initiatives
Puerto Vallarta has taken a significant step in combating gender-based violence by joining the Barrios de Paz program, a state-wide initiative promoting equality and violence prevention. The City Council’s approval of this program will grant the city up to 1,050,000 pesos in funding for the 2025 fiscal year, reinforcing its dedication to creating safer communities.
The Barrios de Paz program, managed by the Secretariat for Substantive Equality between Women and Men of the State of Jalisco, focuses on fostering gender equality and promoting positive masculinity. This partnership aligns with Puerto Vallarta’s ongoing efforts to reduce violence and build a more equitable society.
Mayor Luis Munguía’s administration has also established two pivotal municipal systems: the Municipal System for Substantive Equality between Women and Men, and the System for Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence. These systems aim to improve coordination among municipal agencies, civil society, and academic institutions to collectively address and prevent gender-based violence.
Through these comprehensive initiatives, Puerto Vallarta is making substantial strides towards creating a safer, more just, and inclusive community. The administration’s unwavering commitment to equality and justice is paving the way for a brighter future for all its residents.
