PV Anticipates High Hotel Occupancy During Semana Santa
Puerto Vallarta is expected to experience a significant surge in tourism during the Holy Week and Easter holiday period, with hotel occupancy projected to reach approximately 82.7%. This figure, based on data from the Federal Tourism Secretariat, places Puerto Vallarta as the fifth most popular destination in Mexico for this period, following Nuevo Nayarit, which is expected to lead with an 88.3% occupancy rate.
The Federal Tourism Secretariat anticipates that nationwide, approximately 14,756,000 tourists will travel within Mexico during the Holy Week and Easter holidays, representing a 2.1% increase compared to 2024. Total tourist spending is projected to reach 282,011 million pesos, a 4.4% increase from the same period in the previous year. The national average hotel occupancy is expected to be around 65.7%, a 2.2 percentage point increase from 2024.
It is estimated that 6,578,000 tourists will stay in hotels, a 1.6% increase from 2024, with 4,852,000 being domestic tourists (73.8%) and 1,726,000 being international tourists (26.2%). The total revenue from hotel stays is expected to reach 15,716 million pesos during this vacation period, indicating a strong trend in national tourism activity.
