Airlines Looking to Increase Direct Flights to Mexico

South America, United States and Europe are the main markets where airlines are looking to add direct flights to Guadalajara International Airport and the Lic. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta

Enrique Ramos Flores, Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism said, ‘We’re trying to add a direct flight from Panama to Puerto Vallarta; with Panama being a business distribution center in South America, we’ve already created a direct flight to Guadalajara, but we’re expecting direct flights to PV soon.’

Another south american destination the Secretary of Tourism is aiming for is Bogota, Colombia, with 80-90% of colombian tourists going to Cancun or Riviera Maya, they’re looking to create flights that will take them directly to Riviera-Nayarit. ‘Jalisco provides an immense portfolio of opportunities for international tourists looking for cultural, culinary and natural attractions.’ said Maritza Zúñiga, tourism researcher and specialist.

According to Ramos Flores, ‘The north american market is incredibly important to us, so we want to keep increasing our influence on it. We’re attempting to increase flight frequency from the states that bring the most business to PV, such as California, Texas and Atlanta.’

Among other locations in the works are Madrid, Toronto, Vancouver, Detroit, La Habana and Santiago de Chile.
