Seventh Sea Turtle Festival in Playa Platanitos

The Seventh Sea Turtle Festival, an event organized by Playa Platanitos Ecologico A.C. will be taking place on July 20-21, 2019 during the sea turtle release season.

It’s turtle nesting and hatchling liberating season on Playa Platanitos—a coastal village in the Riviera Nayarit located in the municipality of Compostela—which means everyone is preparing for the VII Sea Turtle Festival, held July 20-21, 2019. The goal for the event is to promote environmental awareness and the conservation of the sea turtle, besides boosting tourism in a community with less than 100 inhabitants who live mostly from commerce, fishing, and sustainable tourism.

The festival includes several activities for all ages like horse riding, fishing, cycling, swimming, walks, camping, sea turtle and environmental issues exhibitions, cultural forums, musical acts and comedy acts, the crowning of the festival queen, and talks.
