Puerto Vallarta as the second destination with the highest hotel occupancy the first week of 2024

Puerto Vallarta positioned itself as the second destination with the highest hotel occupancy in the first week of January 2024, reaching an impressive 83.2%, according to data from the Datatur platform. This performance was only surpassed by Cancun, although Puerto Vallarta managed to outperform Los Cabos in this regard.

According to the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, the analysis of week 1, covering January 1st to 7th, 2024, revealed that 12 monitored destinations achieved an average hotel occupancy of 53.3%. Cancun led with 88.6%, experiencing a significant increase of 7.5% compared to the previous year. In the second place, Puerto Vallarta stood out with 83.2%, showing an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period last year. Los Cabos, on the other hand, recorded an occupancy of 79.8%, with a modest increase of 0.9%.

Other destinations mentioned in the report include Villahermosa with 46.8%, Puebla with 43.5%, Mexico City with 42.9%, Aguascalientes with 37.7%, Tuxtla Gutiérrez with 37.5%, Querétaro with 36.8%, San Cristóbal de Las Casas with 33.3%, San Miguel de Allende also with 33.3%, and Acapulco, whose occupancy was not provided due to the impact of Hurricane Otis.

It is worth noting that Puerto Vallarta is experiencing an excellent start to the year with a hotel occupancy of around 85%, according to the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, Christian Preciado Cázares. He also emphasized that during January and February, foreign tourism predominates in their arrival to this tourist destination.
