San Francisco Will Be a Sister City to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta will have a new sister city: San Francisco, California. It’s been confirmed that it will happen next September 29th, in the presence of the consulate of San Francisco. This partnership is estimated to bring incredible benefits in tourism promotion, momentum for the LGBT community, inclusion, and human rights.

The Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, Enrique Ramos Flores, has been invited to the ceremony. As well as a representative of the National Electronic, Telecommunications and Technologies Industry (Canieti, as it is known in Spanish), to discuss probable partnerships with Sillicon Valley companies.

Susana Rodríguez, President of the City Council’s Tourism Commission, noted there’s always a guiding theme in these committees, “this time it’s the LGBT community, which bring us to themes of inclusion and human rights, since both cities are known for their tolerance, acceptance and respect for the community.”

San Francisco is one of the main markets for Puerto Vallarta, with direct flights all year long, sometimes even twice a week, with this town twinning, a boost to tourism flow is expected as well as to new technologies and software development, San Francisco’s biggest industry.
