Vallarta is an Ideal Destination for Whale Watching

From December to March, it is the official whale watching season in Puerto Vallarta, a destination characterized by having natural resources to shelter more than two thousand cetaceans that cross the Pacific Ocean each year, from North California to Bahia de Banderas.

In a statement, the Puerto Vallarta Tourist Board informed that in the destination there are several service providers that offer this activity. Therefore, it said, it is important that when booking it, it is checked that the vessel has the federal permit from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat, for its acronym in Spanish).

In addition, it said, to make the trip much more pleasant, it should be accompanied by a biologist, who will explain the precautionary measures that should be considered when making the trip. The “marine giants”, as they are also known, give a show with jumps and flutters, which can be observed just a few meters away from the boat or between 200 and 500 meters from the beach.

He added that Puerto Vallarta is one of the most complete sun and beach destinations in the Mexican Republic, having a wide variety of ecotourism activities, without neglecting its responsibility to the environment.
