Hotel Occupancy Hits High in Riviera Nayarit

The holiday numbers, meaning from Dec. 14 to Dec. 31, 2018, are higher than their 2017 counterparts; during the last week of the year hotel occupancy was over 90%.

Riviera Nayarit’s hotel industry is closing one of their best holiday periods on record. The region recorded an average of 88% of hotel occupancy for the Dec. 14 – Jan. 1 period and an economic income close to $10 million.

Based on numbers provided by the OVC (Riviera Nayarit’s Visitors and Conventions Office), we can already tell this past year represented a growth in Occupancy, Tourist Flow and Economic Impact, reaching an average of 86% occupancy for the year.

The highest point of the season as New Year’s Eve, with 96.65%, which means 31,348 people staying in 12,057 rooms out of the 12,475 total rooms registered in the Banderas Bay Hotel Association.

The economic impact in the region is also growing to over $10 million, from $9.2 million in 2017.
