4th Commercial and Cultural Wixarika Expo

The 4th Commercial and Cultural Wixarika Expo will take place in San Francisco, Riviera Nayarit from November 28 through December 1st.

The event is backed by the National Institute of Indigenous People (INPI, for its initials in Spanish), represented in Nayarit by Maximino González Salvador, who noted the expo will have four pavilions:  Indigenous Paradises, Gastronomy, Traditional Medicine and Agro-industry, with 45 booths showing the diversity of Wixarika art, plus music, dance, conferences and, of course, shamans.

The four groups native to Nayarit are expected to be present; Huicholes, Coras, Tepehuanos and Mexicaneros. They’ll be showing their chaquira art, kitting and products made in the communities Las Pilas and Cora de Abajo, Tepic.

Likewise, during the Expo, there’s an extensive cultural program, with traditional music, theater, and a parade showing traditional clothing.

The 4th Commercial and Cultural Wixarika Expo 2019 is backed by the Banderas bay Hotel and Motel Association, the Riviera Nayarit Office for Visitors and Conventions, the Nayarit State Government, and the Municipality of Banderas Bay.
