Mexicana will land in Puerto Vallarta

This airport terminal is set to become one of the 20 domestic destinations serviced by the recently revived airline, departing from Felipe Ángeles International Airport.

During his 5th Government Report presentation, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed this development as part of his message outlining the progress of his administration over the past five years. He mentioned that the airline, overseen by the Ministry of National Defense, would be resuming operations, although he didn’t specify the exact date.

The President expressed, “Both the Navy and the Ministry of Defense are assisting us in various initiatives, including the creation of ecological parks, hotel construction, the development of docks, and the building of railway lines for projects like the Maya Train and the Isthmus and Southeast Railroad. They are also deeply involved in the forthcoming relaunch of the airline, which is a momentous occasion. Mexicana de Aviación is set to take flight again starting in November.”

Following the government’s acquisition of the Mexicana de Aviación brand, the new airline will commence operations, offering flights to 20 domestic destinations using a fleet of 10 leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The list of destinations that Mexicana de Aviación will serve beginning in November includes Cancun, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Campeche, Chetumal, Mérida, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Cozumel, Los Cabos, Hermosillo, Ciudad Juárez, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Acapulco, Mazatlán, La Paz, and León.

Authorities have indicated that ticket prices will be up to 20% lower compared to other airlines, as the seating will be in a single class. However, it’s worth noting that this comparison is based on the “standard” fares of other airlines, with some carriers like Volaris and Viva Aerobus frequently offering promotions that make these flights more cost-effective than long-distance bus travel.
